Formed in Cincinnati in 1986, The Afghan Whigs built a sound that crossed guitar-driven rock with soul and R&B. After separating in 2001, they returned to the stage in 2012 and made new records in the years that followed.
Their 2026 anniversary year also brought Soft Control. The group described the album as a concise ten-song set drawn from a larger batch of recordings, with loud guitars and reflective songs sharing the frame.
